Healthy Eating

Learning about My Plate

Today we learned about the USDA's "My Plate" model for healthy eating. The children took turns placing photos of food on our own giant My Plate. After the children categorized the food in the spaces they felt were correct, they did research to check their work. 

At lunch time, we discussed the food in our lunches and took turns finding foods to fit in each category. The children enjoyed discussing "sometimes" foods, which are sweets and treats!
